Quick Update

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything. Life's been crazy with Thanksgiving and now the Christmas season.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my Goentzel clan. I think there were nearly 30 of us together for the weekend, ranging in age from 2 months to 60+ years old. I'm not sure who's the most senior...maybe Aunt Jane or Uncle Bob. Could be Delmer, I'm not sure.

Charles wasn't feeling good so I took him in to Dr. Scott the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I didn't want him to expose 2 month-old cousin Violet to anything. One ear was red so we began antibiotics, but little did we know that Violet arrived with a cold of her own. Her cough was much worse than Charles'.

Over the weekend Charles got better and I got worse. Sore throat, runny nose, etc. I finally headed to the office to see Dr. Jeff. In all reality, I can't remember what he told me was wrong. He gave me a prescription and we talked about a million other things. I used to baby-sit his boys the youngest is now a junior in high school and the two older ones are at Tabor College, one a freshman and the other a junior. My how time flies!!! It was also an interesting trip to the doctor's office because we ran into my cousin Carissa and her daughter Elena. Carissa was in getting a flu shot. We sat together for a little while and left at the same time. We went to Target for "coffee" (Diet Coke) at the Starbucks/snack bar while I waited for my prescription to be filled. We walked around and looked at all the fun stuff and then headed home. None of us felt very good, so it was good to at least get out of the house and see a familiar face.

The real reason for this post is to let you know that Russell passed his exit exam!!!! He found out on Wednesday. He called me and said, " I think I passed, they handed me a slip with a 'P' beside my name." We're so excited to get passed that hurdle and are thankful for all of you who kept him in your prayers. This means next semester he has one 3 hour class and a 1 hour independent study, which will probably just be a paper that he has to write. Russell is waiting to find out his grade in one class. If it's a "B" or better he will not have to take the final. If not, he'll have his last test on Wednesday night. The bad thing is that the professor won't have the grades posted until Monday, and this professor in particular never lives up to the promises he makes...so it could be Tuesday or Wednesday until he knows for sure about the status of his grade.

We're excited about this weekend. We are going to meet Russell's friend Joel and his fiancee Amy for lunch in Oklahoma City. We'll just spend the day (Saturday) there. Thankfully Uncle Brian & Aunt Heather have agreed to babysit so we can have lunch without the distraction of a toddler. For example....tonight we went out for our Friday night pizza. Charles wasn't happy with the bites of pizza we cut and put on his plate. NO...he wanted to take a bite of the slice. 16 months going on 16 years. If this is what it's like now, I dread living with a teenager!!!

I better get to bed, we're getting up early so we can stop and see Great Grandma Heusel on our way to "The City."
